The “Tech and Innovation Awards” recognizes dynamic, innovative entrepreneurs, executives and companies driving the Bay Area’s thriving technology sector. An independent panel of judges selected 25 finalists from 300 nominations based on corporate growth and execution strategy, business application and customer benefits, and the innovative and differentiating capabilities of their products and services. The award recognized companies in 12 different categories based on market focus, company size and annual revenues.

Windows Phone is available from all major U.S. mobile operators, including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless. In addition, the Windows Phone 7.5 software is available for every Windows Phone customer as a free software update. Schofield says Microsoft putting its products in the hands of developers is nothing new.

“There’s a lot of innovation in this space,” Suchter says. “There are startups here and there, and Google’s got their own effort, and Facebook’s got some big things going on too, but the exciting part about what we’re doing is that we actually have the ability to put it all together.”
