Under the recommendations from IBM, a central command centre will integrate and interconnect information from various systems and services within the township to improve safety, prevent and anticipate problems and improve the quality of life of residents. For example a resident’s smart device will be alerted to current traffic conditions or residents can check parking availability or changes to traffic conditions due to large sporting event or a natural disaster like flooding.

Through this engagement, IBM will help Wave City create a township where all the amenities, such as clean water, energy, transportation, public safety, education, and healthcare, will be integrated and managed by smart devices using sensors and other intelligent communication tools.

Working with local business partner DATALAN, IBM will provide a 96 teraflop supercomputer based on IBM’s Power 775 and 755 systems and DS5300 storage.The supercomputer will be deployed for scientific research requiring high computing capacity in physical chemistry, biochemistry, materials sciences, particle physics, quantum physics, virology, biomechanics and astrophysics.

Supported by technical and intellectual guidance of IBM’s global research lab experts, the Center will be the first of its kind in Latin America, tasked with the mission to design solutions to tackle infrastructure challenges faced by Guadalajara and other cities around the world.
